The Shorkey Center exists to provide services for the individual with special needs.
These services include effective physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation;
direct education services including therapy for children with autism and other related
disorders; and parent assistance support.

Dr. Karen Newton, Ed.D
Executive Director

Traditionally, the Shorkey Center has provided services for children with developmental and physical disabilities. We continue to offer physical, occupational and school based speech therapy for our clientele. In our desire to rehabilitate the whole child, we now offer an all-inclusive program for our students with autism and related disorders.

This summer is going to be a busy time at the Shorkey Center. We are offering Summer Skills Camp for children with high functioning autism and asperger syndrome. This camp will teach social skills that are necessary for success in everyday life situations. Summer programs are usually filled to capacity and also include adaptive aquatics and arts for the child with special needs. Our occupational, physical and speech therapists will be offering services at the Center in addition to our school-based programs.

Please come by and visit, check out our services, or just say hello. We would love to meet you and show you around.
